I had the pleasure of volunteering with The Poetry Archive at the launch of the Poetry of South Asia Collection during the Khushwant Singh Literary Festival London 2025 💛
Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of supporting this project remotely as a Research & Data Management Volunteer — cataloguing poets, building archival spreadsheets, and helping to shape digital access to the collection. It’s been an incredible opportunity to expand my portfolio and take steps toward a career in archives and heritage after university.
🧐 Insight Gained and Skills Developed:
📚 Enhanced understanding of how cultural events engage diverse audiences through talks, workshops, and performances.
🗣️ Developed communication and visitor support skills while assisting attendees and guiding them across venues.
🎭 Gained insight into how storytelling and literature can be used as tools for community engagement and interpretation.
🏛️ Observed event logistics and planning, transferable to museum programming and public engagement.
🤝 Strengthened collaboration and adaptability by working with staff, volunteers, and guest speakers in a fast-paced environment.

This experience developed my understanding of curatorial decision-making and exhibition process, skills I aim to expand as I pursue work in collections and archiving.
A huge thank you to the curatorial team and everyone who made the day so meaningful 💫
