I spent five weeks providing daily care for George, my partner’s mum's cat, with twice-daily feeding, health monitoring, and companionship. During this time, I also supported the household by collecting mail and putting bins out for collection, ensuring everything ran smoothly while his care takers were away.

Caring for George centred around calm routines and quiet companionship. I followed his feeding schedule carefully, refreshed water regularly, and ensured his space remained clean, familiar, and undisturbed. Time was spent sitting nearby, allowing George to engage on his own terms — whether that meant gentle interaction or simply sharing the same space.

This sit reinforced how important stillness and consistency are in feline care. George's comfort came from predictability, patience, and respecting his boundaries — a reminder that attentive care doesn't always need to be active to be meaningful.

By the end of my caring duties for George he was in a routine, happy and content - very skittish and only seen from afar, but he was eating enough. This was my first time providing care for a strictly outdoor cat, so during this experience I gained insight to his routine and favourite places on his owner's land.
