I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be starting a new chapter with Sheffield Museums’ Ruskin Collection at the end of February, working on this meaningful project through to late March. This remarkable and vast archive of paintings, prints, and artworks on paper offers a unique opportunity to support the organisation, documentation, and careful storage of culturally significant treasures, helping to preserve them for future generations.
In this role, I will be assisting with updating records in the TMS database, photographing artworks, and preparing objects for long-term storage. Each task is approached with meticulous care and respect, reflecting a commitment to thoughtful collections stewardship and accurate archival documentation. This work deepens my skills in museum documentation, digital cataloguing, and object handling—foundations essential to dignified heritage care.
This project marks my third curatorial volunteer role with Sheffield Museums since June 2025, when I began as an Events and Public Engagement Volunteer. It’s inspiring to see how each experience builds on the last, weaving together a tapestry of knowledge and passion for heritage.
I’m especially excited to expand my expertise in paper archiving, building on my previous placement at Holst Victorian House, where I digitised over 100 paper artefacts related to Gustav Holst’s life and career. This continuity enriches my understanding of respectful heritage practices, connecting past and present through careful stewardship.
Thank you for joining me on this journey of caring for culture with compassion and integrity. I look forward to sharing more insights and reflections as I engage with The Ruskin Collection.
