Today I had the opportunity to explore the Sheffield Museums’ Archaeology and World Cultures collections with Curator Rachel Atherton. It was fascinating to see the behind-the-scenes storage areas and learn more about how the museum preserves, organises, and interprets its archaeological and ethnographic artefacts.

This experience gave me valuable insight into object handling procedures, environmental control, and the challenges of maintaining and documenting such diverse collections. It was inspiring to see the work that goes into caring for these objects and making them accessible for future research and display.
